Cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVM) is a rare but very complex disease among the vascular diseases of the central nervous system. The natural progression of the disease is char acterized by a significant mortality rate due to the increase of bleeding. Endovascular embolization treatment plays a major role to reduce nidal size adjunct to surgical resection or radiosurgery. This report reviews the results of endovascular embolization of brain AVM and complications of the technique performed on 161 patients from 2000 to 2009 at Bachmai hospital. Most patients presented with hemorrhages (51 percent) or seizures (35 percent). Complete occlusion of the AVM were achieved in 28.4 percent of patients. Complications occurred in 14.3 percent of patients. To achieve good result and low complications, the interventionist must be well trained to understand the angioarchi tectural of AVM and to the technique of embolization.
