Purpose: to investigate the diurnal lop fuctuations in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) under treatment. Subjects: 33 patients (33 eyes) with POAG who were receiving topical medication or underwent glaucoma surgery hospitalized in Glaucoma Department (National Institute of Ophthalmology) between 1 0/2009 and 6/2010. Methods: cross-sectional. descriptive study. Results: IOPs or or = 5 mmHg (72.7 percent). The outcome variables showed significantly large fluctuation in eyes with high mean IOPs (p = 0.000). Conclusions: diurnal IOP measurement is necessary in detecting high IOP as well as large IOP fluctuation which plays an important rule in the progression of glaucoma, in order to determine the most effective treatment.
