Subject: 1/ To study the treatment of the Surviving sepsis campaign-SSC at some ICUs of Vietnam; 2/ To evaluate the impact of compliance on mortality. Objects: 03 ICUs with 49 severe sepsis and septic shock patients in Viet Nam for 1 month (07/2009). Method: the prospective observational study. Results: mortality rate was 42,9 percent, achievement rates for the bundle targets were: lactate measurement, 51 percent; blood cultures, 61,2 percent; broad-spectrum antibiotics, 80 percent; fluids + or - vasopressors, 40,8 percent; central venous pressure or = 8 mmHg, 18,4 percent; central or mixed venous oxygen saturation, 8,1 percent; low-dose steroids, 47,5 percent; drotrecogin alfa, 0 percent; glucose control, 14,3 percent; lung-protective ventilation, 36.7 percent. Compliance rates for the entire resuscitation and management bundles were 12,2 percent and 8,2 percent respectively. On logistic regression analysis, achievement of the targets for blood cultures, antibiotics independently predicted decreased mortality.
