
Introduction: Total knee replacement is indicated for severe knee osteoarthritis. Objectives: 1. Evaluate the results of total knee replacement for osteoarthritis of knee; 2. Discuss the indication of total knee replacement for osteoarthritis of knee. Patients and materials: 18 patients (19 knees) were undergone total knee replacement for osteoarthritis, 4 cases with patellar resurfacing and 15 cases without patellar resurfacing. The results were evaluated at 1 months, 3 months, 6 months and 12 months postoperatively. Results: Knee function is improved clearly with KSS increasing, 89.5 percent patients had excellent and good results, 10.5 percent patients had moderate results and no poor results. Average range of motion is 110 + or - 15. Conclusion:. The results of total knee replacement for severe osteoarthritis of knee is good. Patellar resurfacing is indicated for the patients with anterior knee pain and severe damage of patellofemoral joint.
