
The study was carried out to describe the characteristic's clinical and sub-clinical of peritonitis due to neonatal gastrointestinal perforation at National Hospital of Pediatrics, 2010-2013. The results showed that peritonitis due to neonatal gastrointestinal perforation of boys was higher than girls (boy/girl: 1.56/1), the disease usually occurs before the age of 3 days (72.9 percent). The clinical signs were mainly abdominal distension (86.4 percent), edema - redness color of abdominal wall (59.3 percent) and shock (25.4 percent). The sub-clinical were commonly: free air in the abdominal cavity on radiography of abdomen without preparation (57.6 percent), free abdominal fluid on abdominal ultrasound (66.0 percent), electrolyte disorders (59.3 percent), blood count changes (55.9 percent), CRP increased (45.7 percent) and Acid Base disorders (28.8 percent). Conclusion: symptoms of peritonitis due to neonatal gastrointestinal perforation were common including: abdominal distension, edema - redness color of abdominal wall, free air in the abdominal cavity, electrolyte disorders and Acid Base disorders.
