Objective of this study was to characterize in patients with primary corticosteroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome with methods of descriptive studies of 64 patients diagnosed primary corticosteroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome and 68 patients with primary corticosteroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome were hospitalized in Uro-Nephrology department of the National Hospital of Pediatrics from 01/01/2008 to 31/12/2010. Results showed that patients with corticosteroidresistant nephrotic syndrome were observed moderate and severe edema (64.1 percent), ascites sign (82.8 percent), and average time of edema disappearance (24.47 + or - 0.46 days) higher than in corticosteroid sensitivity nephrotic syndrome group (p 0.05). No consistent significant reduction of edema after 1 month treated by cyclophosphamid, mycophenolat mofetil or cyclosporin (p 0.05) but there is a consistent decrease markedly after 1 month of treatment by Mendozza protocol with p 0.05. In conclusion, patients with corticosteroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome had a more severe edema and the time of edema is longer than corticosteroid sensitivity nephrotic syndrome and the rate of edema was significantly reduced after 1 month treatment by Mendozza protocol but was not reduced after 1 month of treatment by cyclophosphamid or mycophenolat mofetil or cyclosporin.
