
This project was caffied out on 1033 subjects including an experimental group of 615 workers having a low back pain and a control group of 418 worKers. The aim of the study was to evaluate an ameliorative effect of have been on the low back pain of a KAP program on the commumity knowledge about low back pain of worKers at Thai Nguyen Steel company. The results showed that 67.3 percent of the subjects having an adequate knowledge on symptoms, 71.4 percent having knowledge on the cause of the disease; 63.6 percent having occupational risk factors, and 80.8 percent knowwing about the consequence of the low back pain. About 88.6 percent of subjects suffered from the low back pain reported that arT examination at medical facilities was necessary. After intervention, subjects had correct attitude toward treatment as doctor advices was 88.3 percent, and to prevention was 88.0 percent. Subjects implemented correctly preventive treatment activities of the low back pain was 82.8 percent. Among those, people correctly sitting, correctly bringing, and correctly carrying a heavy object were 92.7 percent, 85.0 percent, and 89.9 percent, respectively.
