Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of electrohydraulic lithotripsy in the treatment of principal bile duct stones. Methods: Electrohydraulic lithotripsy for 118 patients with principal bile duct stones by open surgery, 37 patients by laparoscopic surgery, 49 patients performed through a T-tube tract and 15 performed percutaneous transjejunal. Results: Complete clearance of stones by open surgery accounted for 70.34 percent, by laparoscopic surgery 83.78 percent, through a T-tube and percutaneous transjejunal 87.50 percent. There was no serious :omplication and no mortality intra lithotripsy and postlithotripsy. Conclusion: Electrohydraulic lithotripsy in the the treatment of principal bile duct stones is highly effective and safe with minimum complication.
