
Objective: Evaluation of surgical results and follow- up of postnatal ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction detected by antenatal ultrasound. Subject and method: Retrospective study of 73 children with prenatal diagnosis of hydronephrosis being followed up post- natal or underwent surgical treatment with Anderson- Hynes dismembered pyeloplasty method at Viet Duc Hospital from 1/1/2010 to 31/6/2014. Result: 73 children with sex ratio 6 male: 1female, left side/ right side rate 3.84/1. 55 cases (71.6 percent) underwent surgical treatment with Anderson- Hynes dismembered pyeloplasty method. The mean age of children treated surgically is 8 months (from 1 to 36 months). The rest 21 children (28.4 percent) were followed up surgical results are favorable with 86.21 percent good. Conclusion: The prenatal and postnatal screening by ultrasound plays an important role in treatment strategies in order to avoid failure of renal function.
