Objective: evaluate the results of utilization of pectoralis major myocutaneous pedicle flap in pharynx and neck skin defect reconstruction after wide resection os laryngo pharyngeal cancer. Materials and Method: the clinical study was performed on 12 patients of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer at the ENT Depattment, Cho Ray Hospital: 7 cases of hypopharyngo-laryngeal cancer, 4 cases of laryngeal cancer invading the anterior neck skin, 1 case of laryngeal cancer invading the tongue base. Result and Discussion: 100 percent pedicle flap has well transformed, total or partial necrosis did not occur in any cases, one case has pharyngo- cutaneous fistula healed spontaneously after 3 weeks, patients have regular oral feeding and no trouble in swallowing. Conclusion: the pectoralis major myocutaneous pedicle flap has initially gained some recognizable achievements. It is a safe one step procedure with low morbidity. So that, the authors consider the possibility of utilization of pectoralis major myocutaneous pedicle flap in partial pharynx and neck skin defect reconstruction, especially in wide tumor resection with large material defect.
