
Objective: Evaluating initial resuscitation and transfer to Viet-Duc hospital for severe head injury. Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 612 patients with severe head injury at Viet-Duc hospital between 11/2012 and 6/2013. Results: Female/Male: 1/1.3. Mean age: 37.8. 86 percent were transported by critical care teams, 14 percent by non-medical teams. 16.2 percent had clear airway and 83.8 percent with secretions and foreign bodies in airway. 28.4 percent of patients had desaturations in oxygenation (SaO2 90 percent) and 8.5 percent 70 percent; 11.3 percent had hypotention 90mmHg; 78.3 percent were benefited a infusion of mannitol before arrival. Conclusion: In severe head injuries transported to Viet-Duc hospital, there were still patients who suffered from hypoxia and hypotention. The majority of patients were transferred to Viet-Duc hospital by ambulance and ensured resuscitation on the way of transport.
