Research conducted for the purpose of making a rat model of type 2 diabetes, on the basis of a combination of disease and symptoms. The result: the rats after STZ injection had clinical symptoms similar to the disease of clinical diabetes, such as drinking plenty of water, weight loss (p 0.01; p 0.001). Blood glucose in STZ group (19.11 + or - 2.41 mmol/L) and STZ group combined oral traditional medicine (19.07 + or - 1.99 mmol/L) were higher than before injecting STZ (p 0.001). There were significant degradation in pancreatic islet beta cells (40 percent) in the STZ group and STZ combination with traditional medicine. The group using traditional medicine had symptoms: the hot tail, constipation, tongue pale, less moss. The symptoms were suitable with degradation of both qi and yin by traditional medicine.
