The tumors of ampulla of Vater were a relatively rare disease, second cancers after the tumor of the head of the pancreas. To diagnose, the abdominal computed tomographic (CT) scanner is the method for high precision. The study proceed with objectives: assess the value of CT scan in diagnosing the ampulla tumors. Results: 38 patients prescribed a CT scan to diagnosis of ampulla tumor from January 2009 to June 2010 at Viet-Duc Hospital, including: 21 males ( percent ), 17 females (17 percent ); the age average 12.3 + or - 63.9 years (ranging from 38-94 years). On the cr scan found that the fit of the location of the tumor with surgery and anapath results. The cr scan distinguish vulnerability in stage I, II: 85.3 percent; stage III: 8.8 percent; stage IV: 5.9 percent. In the pancreatic head, invasive diagnostic on CT scan was sensitive 77.8 percent, specificity 80 percent. In the duodenum, invasive diagnostic on CT scan was sensitive 75 percent, positive predictive value of 54.5 percent. In the diagnosis of metastases, CT scan has specificity 95.5 percent of the metastatic lymph nodes; the sensitizing 100 percent, specificity 98 percent with liver metastases. CT scan sensitive 95.6 percent in the anticipate surgery.
