Evaluating some effects of applying electronic medical records in medical examination and treatment management at Vinh City General Hospital in 2020. Subject: Medical staff directly involved in the management and use of medical records in medical examination and treatment and patients at Vinh City General Hospital. Method: A pre-post quasi- intervention study design was conducted among 250 medical staff and 400 patients from January 2020 to February 2021. Results: After the intervention, the medical staff's knowledge and good attitude about the application of electronic medical records were significantly improved. The mean score of self- assessment of medical staff’s skills in applying electronic medical records increased in all fields. The duration to do the procedures related to the patient's medical records was greatly reduced after the intervention at all 3 periods of time. The time to return test results was reduced. Patients' ability to access medical examination and treatment information increased significantly, the possibility to access public information on drugs and medical supplies achieved the highest efficiency, at 162.7% with p<0.001.
