
Objective: To evaluate efficacy of Duac gel and doxycycline on treatment of acne vulgaris. Methods: this is a clinical controlled study comparing pre and post-treatment, including 31 patients treated at the National hospital of Dermatology and Venereology from 4/2012- 10/2012. Results: After 4 weeks and 8 weeks of treatment, the number of both inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions were reduced, however, the rate of inflammatory lesions faster than noninflammatory lesions, especially after 8 weeks (29.9 percent vs. 70.6 percent, P 0.05). After 4 weeks of treatment, 61.3 percent of patients showed response at moderate level; after 8 weeks, 100 percent of patients had improvement including 45.2 percent at good level and 54.8 percent at moderate level. Unwanted effects of the treatment after 8 weeks include redness of the skin (9.7 percent), dry skin (16.1 percent), exfoliative (9.7 percent). Conclusions: for results rather satisfactory clinical response after 8 weeks, most patients respond fairly and middle level. percentage of patients have no more unwanted effects and reduced during treatment. Conclusions: The treatment regimens using Duac gel in combination with doxycycline proved rather clinical response, after 8 weeks of the treatment, most of the patients responded at good and moderate levels. Adverse effects of the treatment were not common and reduced during the treatment process.
