
The study aimed to describe the initial results of the treatment of opiate addiction with methadone maintenance (MMT) on injected drug user (IDU). A retrospective descriptive study, identify some indicators before and after MMT, 745 IDUs on MMT enrolled from 3 MMT clinics on 2009 September so far. Informations collected by a checklist based on patient records and reports of the revelant departments. Data analysis by OpenEpi software 2.3.1. The result showed that among 745 IDUs on MMT, the majority were males (98 percent), mean age is 30 years old (range: 19-56), the retenon in MMT program was 90 percent, among patients who continue to use drug, the average day using heroin reduce before vers after MMT at 30 days respectively, 30-60 days and more than 60 days on MMT were: 29.1; 12.4; 2.3 and 0.5 days. Patients have improved quality life, there were 114 patients (15.3 percent) have got ajob. MMT is important part of a program on HIV/AIDS. The integration of MMT in primary health care systems and facilities services and link to the care and prevention service of HIV infection is feasible, cost effective.
