Staphorn calculi are branched stones that occupy a large portion of the colleting system. Typically, they fill the renal pelvis and branch in to several or all of calices. The term "partial staghorn" calculus designates a branched stone that occupies part but not all of the collecting system while "complete staghorn" calculus refers to a stone that accupies virtually the entire colleting system. Nowaday, many methods could be used for patients such as: percutaneous nephrolithotomy, shock wave lithotripsy monotherapy, open surgery (nephrolithotomy by any method). All of the method has limitations. Between Jan 2000 and Dec 2012, total of 828 patients with motiple and staghorn renal calculi were operated upon via open surgery,the authors evaluate about result of open surgery to removal staghorn kidney stone after the authors have controlled the renal artery.
