
Background: An association of gout with hypertension, diabetes, kidney disease, and cardiovascular disease has been observed since the late 19th century. However, the relative importance of these associations remains controversial. The aim of this study is to determine the relation between uric acid and blood pressure, blood glucose in the hypertensive elderly patient. Methods: In a cross-sectional observational study, the authors enrolled 124 elderly hypertensive patients treating in Khanh Hoa Hospital. Mean age: 66.33 + or - 12.19. All biochemical measurements were made in the Department of Chemical Pathology. Results: The rate of hyperuricaemia at the hypertensive patients is 27.42 percent, male: 26.09 percent and female: 29.09 percent.
