Mắc mật còn có tên Mác mật (tiếng Tày - Nùng), hoặc Củ ihỉ, Hồng bì núi, Dương tùng, Vương tùng; tên khoa học là Cỉausena indica (Dalz.) Oliv., họ Cam (Rutaceae). Tên đồng nghĩa là Berger a nitida Thwaites, hoặc Piptostylis indica Dalzell. Không chỉ là cây gia vị nổi tiếng trong ẩm thực của người dân miền núi Tây Bắc, Mắc mật còn là một thảo dược với những công dụng như lợi mật, kích thích tiêu hóa và bảo vệ gan.
