
A retrospective descriptive study based on the available data with the aim of describing some epidemiological characteristics of suspected measles cases in Khanh Hoa province in the period of 2008-2010. Results: Number of suspected measles cases tended to increase over the years, found all year round, the highest peaks fell in March, April and June, July, August every year. 52.4 percent of suspected cases were collected blood samples for Lab. diagnosing of measles. 31.2 percent were positive (+) in whicn 1.6 percent were positive with both measles and rubella, 6.2 percent were positive with rubella and 23,4 percent were positive with measles. In the period 2008 -2010, most measles cases detected in 2009 (66.8 percent). Among measles positive cases, children under 5 years old had the highest percentage (44.5 percent). Then the 5-9 age group (16.3 percent), the 2029 age group (17.8 percent), the 30-39 age group (3.4 percent). Male had higher percentage than female. Study results showed the implement of measles vaccination campaign for higher risk age groups. The authors should consider the possibility of implementing rubella vaccination in the routine EPI. The authors should increase communication and education for mothers on vaccination against measles and prevention of measles.
