
Introduction: Flooding is one of the most common natural disasters due to the effects of climate change and cause severe consequences for property, health and life of humans. Objectives: To analyze association between economic, cultural, social factors and knowledge, attitudes, practices for responding to effects of flood on people's health in Thua Thien Hue. Results: The people who had education of high school or their houses have not been inundated had better knowledge of flood response than that of the people who only can read and write and their houses have been inundated. The people who were male, at older age, had higher education level had more positive attitude in response to flooding. In terms of practice, the people who were in rural areas, being male, living in areas with lower frequency of flooding, having better knowledge and positive attitudes had better practical knowledge in response to flooding. Conclusions: Education level, inundation situation had association with their knowledge in coping with floods. Attitude for responding to flood was quiet different between men and women, between people with different education levels. Place of residence, gender, number of times being exposed to floods, knowledge and attitude of people had affected to their practical responses.
