
Objectives: l/ Identifire the rate of Post-partum heamorrhage (PPH) having transfusion or haemostatic surgery in National Hospital of OB-GYN during 2 years 2008-2009; 2/ Describer the causes of PPH having transfusion or haemostatic surgery and treatment. Material and method: Descriptive and retrospective study were conducted on 262 PPH patients having transfusion or haemostatic surgery. Results: General rate of PPH is 0.69 percent. The major causes of PPH: uterine atony and retained placenta: 29.4 percent; placenta previa: 19.5 percent; trauma of lower genital tract: 14.5 percent, cesarean complication: 9.9 percent; preeclampsia: 6.9 percent. 3 serious causes of PPH were uterine rupture, bleeding post hysterectomy, cesarean complications. The rate of haemostatic hysterectomy: 29.8 percent; The rate of transfusion over 5 unites: 36 percent. Conclusion: The rate of PPH is relative high, iatrogenic causes are very serious, one third having haemostatic hysterectomy and transfusion over 5 unites.
