
Objective: To study some clinical features, testing and treatment of "scrub typhus". Results and methods: From January 2009 to December 2012, 42 children were admitted in the hospital. Results showed that 66.7 percent of the patients were male. 88.3 percent of them were from rural areas. The parents of 78.6 percent of the patients are farmers, parents of 4.8 percent of them are officers and parents of 7.1 percent of them are workers or free labours. 78.5 percent of the patients had high fever. Rash appeared in the first and second week in 7078 percent, Hepatomegaly appeared in 2nd week in 80 percent, Eschar signs were seen in chest, abdomen and genital organs in 30-40 percent of the patients. Anemia happened in 85 percent, GOT increased in 83.9 percent and GPT increased in 73 percent of the patients. Albumin decreased moqerately and severely in 68 percent of the patients. Chloramphenicol, Azythromyxin, doxycycline are effective in treatment. Conclusions: Rickettsia is the cause of prolonged fever with increased GOT in children. Chloramphenicol, Azythromyxin, doxycycline have been shown to be effective in the treatment of "scrub typhus".
