Tympanic atelectasis presents the unsafe type of otitis media because this may lead to the development of cholesteatoma. The aim of this study was to assess the anatomic and functional results of surgery for atelectatic ears. Materials and methods: Descriptive, prospective study. From January 2010 to October 2012, sixty-six ears including forty-one total atelectatic ears and twenty-five partial ones underwent surgery.
