
Background: Severity of bleeding symptom in acute leukemia patiens may related to level of platelet count reduction. Purpose: To investigate some platelet indicators and relationship to bleeding symptom in acute leukemia patients. Patients and methods: The research has been taken on 110 patients to be diagnosed acute leukemia at National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT). Results: average platelet count of 47.6 + or - 43.1; Peripheral platelet count reduction of 92.7 percent, Marrow platelet reduction of 91.8 percent. Platelet volume relates to bleeding situation. Platelet reducing increases bleeding situation and degree. Conclusion: Platelet count is reduced significantly in acute leukemia patients, severity of bleeding symptom is related to level of platelet count reduction.
