Background. The HBV related HCC account for 65 percent to 90 percent of HCC in Vietnam but the activity of HBV before and after intervetional treatment HCC have not yet been studied and published. This study aimed to answer a part of the above mentioned question. Results. A total of 36 HBV related HCC were recruited, 33 men and 3 women with average age 54 + or - 8. At clinical presentation oj HCC, the HBV load 10 exponent 4 cps/ml was 19/36 (52,8 percent) and most of them have not been treated with Nucs. The rate of HBV breakthrough was 9/36 (25 percent) and according to the modality of intervention this rate was 0/3 in RFA; 3/12 (25 percent) in TACE (Doxorubicin based); 1/7 (14,3 percent) in coelioscopic resection and 4/14 (35,7 percent) in open surgery resection. The breakthrough rate was changed with the treatment of HBV regimens: 4/10 (40 percent) in patients no received any HBV treatment; 4/20 (20 percent) received only after intervention and 1/6 (16,7 percent) received both before and after intervention (p= 0,195). Conclusion. At the diagnosis of HBV related HCC the majority of patients have HBV load 10 exponent 4 cps/ml and most of them did'nt received Nucs treatment. After interventional treatment, 25 percent patients observed HBV break through especially in the group of patients treated with open surgery resection and TACE with Doxorubicin as well as patients who did'nt received anti Nucs therapy HBV.
