
Objective: Bipolar TURP (Bipolar transurethral resection of the prostate) is one of methods which has not been widely used in Vietnam. the authors evaluated the changes in IPSS index after Bipolar transurethral resection of prostatic treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia at No.103 Hospital. Patients and method: The patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia were operated by Bipolar TURP from November 2012 to June 2013 at No.103 Hospital. The patients were checked the weight of prostate, and evaluated preoperative and postoperative IPSS 1-month and 3-month follow-up. Results: There are 64 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia operated. Mean age 70.51 (55-90 years). Ages which has been seen the most frequent is from 60 to 69 year-old(43.75 percent). The 60-79 year-old group accounted for 75 percent. Preoperative prostatic volume average54.30 + or - 16.44 cm3 (30-100 cm3). The IPSS improvement is evident at 1 month follow-up. There are 1/48 patients with IPSS score 21 (2.08 percent). Preoperative IPSS average was 28.47 + or - 4.23, postoperative IPSS average at 1month follow up was 5.10 + or - 4.65). Postoperative IPSS was significantly improved with p0.001.
