
Malnutrition and anemia are public health significant problems in Vietnam. Malnutrition is often associated with anemia in areas with difficult living conditions. This was a cross sectional study. To describe the nutritional status and anemia in adolescent girls in the targeted;communes in Child Malnutrition Control Program. The results show that the prevalence of thin (BMI for age -2SD) was 27.0 percent in adolescent girls. Thus prevalence was very high among adolescent girls aged 10-13 years (42.1 percent). The prevalence of anemia in adolescent girls (22.7 percent) was classified with moderate (20 to 39.9 percent) level of public health significant problems. Undernutrition and anemia are public health significant problems among adolescent girls in the targeted communes. In the coming years, there is a need to implement an effective solutions of prevention and intervention to lower the rate of malnutrition and anemia for adolescent girls in the high risk areas of the community.
