
Background: Constipation is not a disease entity, but troubling for patients and affect their quality of life. The study done in 5 years (01/2008-12/2012) with the purpose of understanding: Prevalence, clinical characteristics, and clinical efficacy. Objects-Method: Patients Receiving through asking patients, clinical examination and endoscopy indicated at department of hepatogastroenterology in the No.108 Military central Hospital. Diagnosis of chronic constipation based on the Rome III criteria. Data collected annually from 2008 to 2012 on the computer. Characteristics of patients with constipation classification based on classification of the Bristol Stool chart. Treating constipation done under the guidance of the American Association of Gastroenterology (2008). Results: The total number of patients receiving a colonoscopy within 5 years is: 11,893. Percentage Female / male: 3.03 and the average age is 55,3 + or - 12.1. Average incidence of chronic constipation in 5 years is: 976/11893 (8.2 percent).
