Objective of the study was to assess clinical manifestations, laboratory abnormalities and frequency of complications in newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients. The result showed that the average age was 57.4 + or - 9.4, BMI was 24.0 + or - 2.0, plasma glucose was 9.0 + or - 2.2 mmol/L, HbA1c was 8.9 + or - 2.0 percent, elevated triglyceride was common with the mean of triglyceride was 3.1 + or - 2.9 mmol/L. Changes in some factors evaluating insulin resistance HOMA-IR: 6.0 + or - 2.3 and HOMA-beta: 49.8 + or - 32.5. Peripheral arterial disease was recorded in 5.6 percent of the patients; the rate of hypertension was 29.1 + or -. 5 cases suffered from diabetic foot complication expressed as foot callus that accounted for 5.8 + or -. In conclusions, Majority of the newly-diagnosed type 2 diabetes manifested overweight, obesity, hyperglycemia and failure of insulin secretion, as well as peripheral arterial complications associated with insulin resistance.
