The author has studied 306 cleft lip patients treated at Khanh Hoa Province General Hospital in order to categorize cleft deformities as well as to establish the experiences in reconstructive surgery techniques. The sample included 306 patients treated at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Khanh Hoa Province Hospital in 2000-2013. Study design: Observational method was used in clinical research, particularly prospective no controlled intervention study. Results: Classification of cleft deformities: The prevalence of incomplete unilateral cleft lip was 22.54 percent. The prevalence of complete unilateral cleft lip was 28.81 percent; and that of bilateral cleft lip was 5.60 percent. The percentage of cleft lip and cleft palate is 43.79 percent. Within this group, 30.20 percent of patients were complete unilateral cleft lip and cleft palate and 5.6 percent of patients were complete bilateral cleft lip and cleft palate. The treatment outcomes depend on each particular reconstructive surgery technique; and this dependence has statistical significance.
