Investigate clinical and biological manifestations of CRS in children 3 months of age being given birth between May and November 2011 admitted into some pediatric settings in Hanoi. It was a prospective case-series descriptive study based on a group of 77 children (44 males, 33 females) then confirmed by presece of either rubella specific IgM or PCR positive to rubella virus. Congenital defects and abnormalities observed in respective order were congenital heart malformations (97.73 percent), intra-unterine malnutrition (77.2 percent), microcephaly (27.3), deafness or hearing abnomality (83.33 percent), microphtalmia (22.1 percent), and cataract (18.2 percent). Other clinical signs and symptoms regularly observed were purpura (81.8 percent), splenomegaly (64.9 percent), and hepatomegaly (59.7 percent), precoce jaundice (less than 24h) (23.3 percent). Biological abnormalities observed were thrombocytopenia 10 exponent 5/mm3 (92.2 percent), elevated hepatic enzymes 60 IU/ml (48.1 percent), anemia with Hb 10g/l (37.7 percent). Cerebral abnormalitis comprised of canxification (27.3 percent), hemorrhage (3.9 percent), and encephalitis (2.6 percent). About 19.5 percent of mothers suffered from confirmed rubella during pregmancy, other 61 percent reported symptoms suspected rubella infection during pregnancy. Mortality among the study population was 18.2 percent.
