
Objective: this study assessed the results of hepatectomy using the combined methods of Lortat - Jacob and Ton That Tung in the treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma. Material and method: During period from May 2007 to October 2011, 156 consecutive patients with hepatocellular carcinoma underwent hepatectomy at the Department of Digestive surgery of 108 hospital. The hepatectomy were performed by a surgical team specialized. The case notes have been reviewed and to study the clinical features, the types of hepatectomy, the results of operation and the postoperative morbidity and mortality. Results: There were 116 (74.3 percent) males and 40 (25.6 percent) females, median age 47.8 + or - 12.5 years (range 19 to 79 years), HbsAg (+) ( N= 130) Child- Pugh A: (N=156 ), right hepatectomy (N= 36), left hepatectomy (N= 51), left hepatic lobectomy (N = 23), central bFsectionectomy (N=12 ), segmentectomy (N= 5). The mean time operation 112 + or - 21.2 minutes, the mean operative blood loss; 300 + or - 232 ml, the blood transfusion rate; 22.2 percent; Overal motality and mortality were 0.64 percent and 22.1 percent. Conclusion: Hepatectomy using the combined methods of Lortat - Jacob and Ton That Tung in the treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma is safe and effective.
