
Objectives: Describe the knowledge and attitude on voluntary blood donation in Hai Phong. Method: cross-sectional descriptive study, interviewing 753 subjects selected volunteer blood donors from the blood donation drive on Hai Phong area in 2011-2012. Data analysis based on software EPINFOR 6.0 and OpenEpi 1.2. Result: The rate of blood donors have the right knowledge on the subject and unavailable blood donors are hight, 100 percent believe that HIV and injecting drug user not be blood donors, for hepatitis Band C, syphilis rateunderstand correctly is 86.2 percent , 62.4 percent and 54.2 percent . Percentage of people know about blood group was 61.5 percent and know their own blood group was 52.4 percent . Percentage of donors that should be honored mode rewarded for motivation and encourage 98.2 percent; allowances in cash 62.4 percent and provided salaried leave only 24.6 percent. Conclusion: voluntary blood donors in Hai Phong have good knowledge on blood-transmitted diseases, blood safety transfusion screening; positive attitude on blood donation and reward blood donation in order to motivation and encourage voluntary blood donnors.
