Kiến thức phòng chống bệnh không lây nhiễm của người dân xã Huống Thượng, huyện Đồng Hỷ, tỉnh Thái Nguyên

The study was to estimate the knowledge of people in Huong Thuong commune about noncommunicable diseases, especially about hypertension. The results showed that participants had limited knowledge on harmful effects of risk factors for NCDs: smoking (81.9 percent named lung diseases; 50.9 percent cancer), excessive salt intake (hypertension 41.7 percent), eating too much fatty foods (obesity 49.9 percent), etc. 81 percent knew about methods for detecting hypertension, 13.3 percent for diabetes and 26.2 percent for obesity. Participants can name complications of hypertension (brain strokes 67 percent, heart 9.2 percent); diabetes (kidney 11.8 percent). In conclusion, people in Huong Thuong commune have already had some knowledge about non-communicable diseases and the relationship between harmful risk factors and the diseases. They also have limited knowledge about how to recognize some non-communicable diseases and their complications, but still need to be further practice and intervention for better effectiveness in control and prevention of non-communicable diseases.
