The study was conducted over 411 IUI cycles, performed on 232 patients and treated by IUI technique with the husband's sperm during the period from 10/2010 to 6/2011 at Histological Technology Center - Vietnam Military Medical University. The study aimed to find the relation ship between the quantity and quality of sperm and theresults of infertility treatment using IUI technique. The result was that thepregnancy rate/cycle number was 9.7 percent; pregnancy rate/number of patients was 17.2 percent. The technical conditions for the effectiveness of IUI technique were that semen samples before washing filter had the sperm density of at least more than ( or = 10x10 exponent 6/ml), variable sperm number was at least more than ( or = 10x10 exponent 6/ml), the proportion of sperms with typically normal morphology was at least more than ( or = 4 percent), therate of live sperm was at least more than ( or = 50 percent); semen samples after washing filter must have aspermdensity of at least more than ( or = 5x10 exponent 6/ml), variable sperm number was at least more than ( or = 5x10 exponent 6) in total, typically normal sperm morphology wasat least more than ( or = 4 percent).
