
Objective: to determine the prevalence of overweight-obesity and its risk factors in primary school pupils in Hai Chau district, Danang city, 2013. Methods: a cross-sectional study was designed to describe the prevalence of overweight-obesity followed by a case-control study to determine its risk factors. A population of 4059 pupils aging from 6-10 enrolled in this study. Overweight-obesity was evaluated based on international BMI-for-age and sex references endorsed by WHO in 2007. Risk factors were recorded by using questionnaires and analysed with odd ratio and multiple variable regression. Results: the prevalence of overweight-obesity of primary school pupils was 17.5 percent including 10.8 percent of overweight and 6.7 percent of obesity.
