Objective: Present clinical characteristics of covered anus and initial outcome of treatment. Subjects and methods: Retrospective study, data were collected from medical records of covered anus patients at Surgery Department from 1991 to 1998, National Hospital of Pediatrics. Result: 57 patients were treated from 1991 to 1998 comprise of 87.7 percent male and 12.3 percent female. 87 percent of patients have an anocutaneous fistula, 66 percent of the cases were covered anal stenosis, 34 percent of patients have no anus. Main symptom is the difficulty of passing stool. Only 42 percent of the cases are operated in the first month after birth. Six patients were unappropriated diagnosed early. Duration of hospitalization: 5.01 + or - 3.06 days. Conclusion: covered anus is still diagnosed late. However, prognosis of covered anus in national hospital of pediatrics is good, patient need few day of hospitalization, and there is little post surgery complication.
