The study was carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of surgical treatment of congenital nystagmus with eccentric blockage and to draw experiences in surgical treatment of congenital nystagmus. The results showed that visual acuity was improved in 39 of 42 eyes. Nystagmus in primary position was eliminated in 15 patients and reduced in 6 patients. Head turn disappeared in 14 patients and reduced in 7 patients. No complications noted during and after surgery. In conclusion, surgical treatment of congenital nystagmus with eccentric blokage has a beneficial effect on vision, reduces or eliminates nystagmus and vicious head position. Surgical indication should be specific to ensure good results.
