A survey to assess models of private sector engagement in public hospitals and explore strengths and weaknesses of these models. The survey is conducted in 4 provincial general hospitals and 3 district hospitals in 3 provinces. Data is collected through facility survey, in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. Findings show that: private sector participate in public hospitals in the forms of contributing finance and delivering health services at public hospitals. These models bring both advantages and disadvantages. External capital investment in medical equipment expands availability of hospital health services to meet people's health care needs and make health services more accessible for people. However, this type of investment may lead to the problem of overuse of equipment to increase hospital revenue to make profit.
