
Nutritional anemia is a health problem quite common in pregnant women, which is mainly due to iron deficiency anemia. Objective: Study on frequent of iron deficiency anemia and some related conditions in pregnant women in Hanoi during 2012-2013. Subjects and methods: Full blood cell count was canied out on 1190 pregnant women, from 1-42 weeks of gestation, no hematopoietic disease or chronic illness in history. Quantify of serum fenitin levels in pregnant women have anemia. Results: The prevalence of anemia was 12.8 percent in pregnant women, which was mainly due to iron deficiency (79.6 percent). Conclusion: Anemia in pregnancy is mainly due to iron deficiency, so that it should be tested periodically to efficacy supply of iron medications.
