Objective: To determine the results of using combination oxygen and air via nasal cannula for oxygen weaning to preterm infants. Method: prospective, descriptive and analyzed study. Preterm infants born at or or = 95 percent, the trial of room air in 30 minutes performed. If SpO2 or = 90 percent weaning would continue in 24 hours. The end point of study is successful weaning in 24 hours or when 40 weeks postmentrual age (PMA) reach. Results: 30/32 (93.8 percent) infants were successfully weaned in 24 hours. In comparison with the group undiluted 100 percent oxygen 7 days, the group "diluted oxygen" and the group "undiluted 100 percent oxygen 7 days" had fewer days on cannula (14.5 + or - 5 and 10.6 + or - 4 vs 21.6 + or - 6.8; p or = 7 days.
