
Objective: To assess the stcitus of respiratory tract infections in cement production workers in Thai Nguyen region and to identify some related factors. Method: A analytic cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted in 5 cement factories in Thai Nguyen in 2013. Results: The overall prevalence rate of respiratory tract infections found in the workers was 23.9 percent. In which, seen mostly in age group 41-50 years (36.3 percent). Regarding an occupational age, the rate of respiratory tract infections mainly occu"ed in the occupational age of 21-25 years (40.6 percent). The respiratory tract infections in women was 24.0 percent and in male was 23.9 percent. Structure of respiratory tract disease in workers: sinusitis (53.2 percent); bronchitis (51.9 percent), throat, larynx diseases (34.1 percent), pneumonia (23.1 percent), Silicosis (15.4 percent) and diseases of the ear: 12.7 percent. Some factors related to respiratory tract infections were found: workers with septal deformities, with atopic allergy, inflammation of tonsil, chronic VA related to increased prevalence of respiratory tract infections.
