Background. The rate of nephrotic syndrome occurs approximately 45-65 percent among lupus nephritis patients with progresion. Therefore, the authors conducted this study with the aim: to learn clinical and paraclinical characteristics of nephrotic syndrome in the patients with lupus nephritis. Patients and methods: One retrospective study was performed on 225 patients who had been diagnosed nephrotic syndrome in the lupus nephritis patients who were treated in Nephro - Urology, Bach Mai Hospital during 3 years from 2008 to 2010. Results. Patients had edema with high percentage: 91.1 percent. In total 205 patierit~ with edema, the rate of edema only accounted for. 54.6 percent, in accompanying ascites was 24.9 percent, with ascites and pleural: 15.1 percent and the rate of edema with pleural effusion was lowest percentage with 4.9 percent. The proportion of patients with hypertension accounted for 46.6 percent (n=105). Stage 1 hypertension was the highest percentage with 24.4 percent (n=55), stage 2 hypertension accounted for 14.2 percent (n=32) and patients with stage 3 hypertension accounted for the lowest percentage with 8 percent (n=18). The concentration of serum total protein: 50.48 + or - 6.7 (28.1-59.7g//). Serum albumin concentration was 21.22 + or - 4.76g// (10.8-29.7g//). Proteinuria/24h was 10.39 + or - 8.54 g/24h (3.54-52g/24h). Conclusions. Patients had edema with high percentage: 91.1 percent. The proportion of patients with hypertension accounted for 46.6 percent. The concentration of serum total protein: 50.48 + or - 6.7 g/l, serum albumin concentrations was 21.22 + or - 4.76g/l and proteinuria was 10.39 + or - 8.54g/24h.
