Dentine sensitivity on non-carious and non-cracked dental areas is more common in younger population. A cross-sectional survey was conducted on 871 adults at Hochiminh city to evaluate dental sensitivity and related alimentation habits. There were 73.6 percent of the subjects reported to have light to moderate degree of sensitivity. The difference was significant by age (p 0.001) and by profession groups (p 0.05), but not significant by gender or by education level. Regarding the dental arch distribution, dentine sensitivity frequency was significantly higher on the posterior, mandibular, and the left side. Coldness was reported as the most common stimulus. The dentine sensitivity prevalence was significantly higher in group with high frequency of acidic alimentation, smokers, and significantly lower in group with calcium supplementation and women with children (p 0.05); there was no significant difference related to milk/milk product consuming, and breastfeeding frequency.
