Introduction: Nowaday, acute pancreatitis (AP) is more common. Many people with AP, the cause is unknown. All most cases should be treated by drugs, surgery is indicated for specific options. Method: This is retrospective study during 6 years from 1/2005 to 12/2010. Results: Male/ female = 5.02. The average patient age was 44.9 + or - 13.5 with common age was 30-39. AP due to alcohol was 48.6 percent, unknow causes was 33.6 percent. 88.5 percent of cases were non-surgically. The most common surgical indication were peritonitis and infected pancreatic necrosis. Remove necrotic tissue , insert drain (72.4 percent), jejunostomy (79.3 percent), choledochostomy (24.1 percent). Conclusions: AP were common treated by internal medicine. Common surgical indication were peritonitis and infected pancreatic necrosis. Average hospital stay: 9.3 + or - 8.3 days (from 1 to 73 days). Surgical group was 21.3 + or - 15.3 days, non-surgical group was: 7.8 + or - 5.5 days.
