The vertical mammaplasty is popular technique that leaves a single vertical scar in addition to the periareolar scar. This article describes the technique performed by authors and evaluates the easthetic results of this technique in reported series of reduction mammaplasties. The average reduction per breast was 323 g (from 50 to 700 g). A total of 75 percent of the breasts presented the final cosmetic result. Secondery minor surgery for round scar was performed at 55 percent of breast. In conclusions, this technique has been applied to breast ptosis and moderate hypertrophy sizes and has consistently produced good breast shape, less scarring than standard breast reductions.
