
The National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT) conducted the external quality assessment schemes (EQAS) on screening test for ms in 42 medical laboratories nationawide by supplying the panel HBsAg, HCV without reference results. The participant labs test the panel according their routine procedures and sent back the test results to NIHBT. The study data showed that 42 participant labs used different test kits including 14 kits for HBsAg, 15 kits for HCV with many test methods such as automatic and semiautomatic ELISA, Chemiluminescent ImmunoAssay (CLIA). Inappropriate reported results for HBsAg found in 14/39 labs tested with ELISA, 22/22 labs with rapid test; for HCV the aberrant results found in 9/38 labs with ELISA, in 18/23 labs rapid test. In concerning with the test algorithsm, the reactive samples have not been tested duplicately in 9 labs for HBsAg tests and in 10 labs for HCV.
