Abstract

Aims: To evaluate the results of partial thickness autograft in widespread skin lesion treatment. Methods: Uncontrolled descriptive prospective study. Results: Results of skin graft: the percentages of good, average and bad skin graft are 85.06 percent, 9.96 percent, and 4.44 percent respectively. - Number of surgeries: more than 45 patients with skin loss area from 3 to 8 percent of body surface area account for 80 percent, in which the number of patients with one, two, and three surgeries account for 64.4 percent, 28.9 percent, and 6.7 percent respectively. - Mesh skin grafts account for 42.2 percent, postage stamp skin grafts account for 33.3 percent and combination of two methods account for 24.4 percent. - Average hospital stay period is 9,42 + or - 6,8 days. - Distant treatment results after 3 and 6 months: + Color: the donor site of 26/30 (57.8 percent) re-examined patients has faded scarring. Skin graft area: all patients had scars darker in color in comparison with normal skin. + Characteristics of scars at donor site: after 3 months adhesive and contracted scars account for 40 percent, recessed scars account for 22.2 percent, keloid scars account for 4.4 percent. After 6 months conditions of scars improved. + Evaluation of movement: after 3 months, 11 patients (24.4 percent) had normal movements, 18 patients (40 percent) was hindered in movements, one patient (2.2 percent) had joint stiffness. After 6 months tile- number of patients with normal movements was higher. - Evaluation of sense: after 3 months, patients with normal sensations account for 35.6 percent, patients having sensory disturbances account for 26.7 percent, patients with sensory loss account for 4.4 percent.. After 6 months, patients with normal sensations account for 28.9 percent, patients with sensory disturbances 6.7 percent and there were no cases of sensory loss.
