Evaluating the voluntary blood donation work in Da Nang city in 2011, obtained the following results: The direction of the Executive Steering Committee (PSC) with the coordination and active participation of the PSC members has improved the efficiency of management, propaganda and mobilization work to make the voluntary blood donation movement of the City into order, stability and development; The Standing Office of the Steering Comrnittee has provided good advice and collaborated to develop and coordinate the mobilization plans. The municipal departments and associations have promoted their key roles in the propaganda and mobilizaion work of the voluntary blood donation; The health care sector has implemented various technical measures to ensure quality and efficiency in receiving, screening and processing blood products, managing and using blood sources; to ensure 100 percent blood units screened five kinds of infectious diseases, which makes the rate of voluntary blood donors increase 62.4 percent in comparison with that of 2007. The voluntary blood donors only donating blood once a year makes up 59.9 percent; the percentage of repeated blood donors has reached 40.1 percent; there are 36 voluntary blood donors who have Rh negative (0.15 percent); In 2011, the voluntary blood donation has achieved the plan of the municipal People's Committee, met 99.5 percent the needs of blood for emergency aid and treatment of the hospitals of Danang city. The percentage of the population participating in the voluntary blood donation has reached 2.64 percent. Thanks to the increasing voluntary blood donation, there are no longer professional blood donors, which help ensure blood for unexpected emergencies as well as save lot of patients' lives from fatal diseases.
